Jayla Terry is from Richmond, Virginia, and is a sophomore majoring in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Spanish. Jayla is passionate about equitable healthcare and representation in medicine. She serves as the Marketing & Advertising Chair for Phi Delta Epsilon, one of UNC’s pre-medical fraternities, and as a Social Media Chair for Blossom Together, a service organization dedicated to uplifting underrepresented communities. Jayla also volunteers with UNC Children’s Hospital and with Wonder Connection, where she builds connections with pediatric patients. She is pursuing her CNA license this summer to gain hands-on clinical experience. In high school, she co-founded and served as Co-President of the Black Student Union, fostering conversations on race and activism, she plans to do the same here at UNC. Outside of UNC, Jayla works part-time at First Watch and enjoys journaling and spending time with family. She is beyond honored to be a member of the 2025 North Carolina Fellows Program.
