Alexandra Marchesano

Alexandra Marchesano has served as Executive Director of the Carolina Union since September of 2019, overseeing six offices that carry out the Union’s mission to create safe, inclusive and educational experiences that enable students to maximize their time at Carolina. Marchesano brings a wealth of experience to her role with more than two decades of higher education and student affairs leadership, including director level management at three universities. 

Before coming to Carolina, Marchesano served for eight years as Director of Campus Activities and Programs at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she provided management and strategic direction for co-curricular programming and student engagement. She has extensive experience in planning and implementing major campus events, including leadership development programs; oversight for fraternity and sorority life and student organization management; student government and graduate student life advisement; support of student union operations; leadership for budget management and student fee allocations, along with strategic planning and assessment. 

 Some of her major accomplishments at UNCG included increasing weekend programming on campus, implementing a risk-management assessment plan for student events; establishing a Greek Life Task Force; and implementing a Triad Music Fest with area colleges in Greensboro.

Caroline Gschwind she/her

Caroline is our Guest Services Manager, where she manages both the Box Office, who supports ticketing related services, and Guest Relations, who supports client related services. Her passion lies in event management and customer service, as well as working with students and seeing them grow confident in their skills. When she's not at the Carolina Union, you can find Caroline crocheting, baking, or attending local theatre productions.

Becca is our Reservation Manager here at the Carolina Union, where she gets to help our many clients make their visions for their events a reality. She loves working collaboratively amongst many of our teams to make any event that crosses her desk a successful one, including working with her student team in Reservations. However, she doesn't only work behind the scenes - in her free time, she loves performing, exploring nature, and being involved in her church, since her faith is important to her! 

Spencer Davis

Spencer is one of two Event Managers at the Carolina Union, specializing in Audio Visual. His tenure at UNC began with an interest in AV production, but it quickly ballooned into managing events and various event venues, in addition to supervising the AV student team. In his free time, Spencer has a long love of visual storytelling, including reading and creating his own comics. He also enjoys athletic recreation and traveling, even if it does mean being away from his cat, Jace.

Cat is the second of the two Event Managers, with her specialization being in Operations. She started her time at the Carolina Union as a student employee, and she made the transition to full time due to her interest in the administrative work related to managing events, as well as her passion for the students she supervises. In her free time, Cat enjoys reading, writing fiction, and exploring coffee shops with her friends.

Brian Lackman he/him/his

Brian Lackman has spent his career working across in a range of areas of student affairs including residential life, leadership development, student organization development, diversity & inclusion programming, and more. Brian serves as the Associate Director of Leadership Development and is responsible for leading and supporting the Leadership Development team in addition to advising the Graduate and Professional Student Government in addition to serving areas of leadership development across the UNC community.

Brian graduated with his B.A. in English Literature from Chestnut Hill College and obtained his M.S. in Educational Leadership Studies from Oklahoma State University. Brian is a practitioner and scholar who works to improve educational environments and has completed original research focused on graduate supervision, asexual student identity development, and more. Brian has spent the past decade as a StrengthsQuest facilitator working to ensure that individuals can fully deconstruct and reconstruct their strengths given their lived experiences. Outside of work you can catch Brian enjoying state parks with his dog while listening to a lot of podcasts, cooking, baking, spending time with friends, staying active, and relaxing.

Tammy Lambert

Tammy Lambert joined the Carolina Union staff in 1997, serving in various roles until taking on her current position as in 2013. As the Assistant Director for Student Organizations, Tammy leads the Student Organizations team within Student Life & Leadership. Along with her staff, she works to provide student organizations with the services, resources and information necessary to be successful. Tammy received her bachelor’s degree in education from UNC-Chapel Hill and holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from NC State University.

Quayle is a Richmond, Virginia native and graduate of Hampton University where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communications. She also earned a master’s degree in Higher Education Leadership. Quayle’s professional experience in Student Affairs includes areas such as student activities, leadership development, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. When she isn’t working, Quayle enjoys traveling the world and helping others to do the same.

Natasha graduated with a B.A. in Studio Art and a B.A. in Sociology from Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire in 2016, and an M.S. in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 2018. Within Student Life & Leadership, Natasha is responsible for programmatic and strategic efforts around co-curricular leadership initiatives that foster learning and development outside of the classroom, such as the annual SPARK Leadership Retreat, Carolina United, the ACC Leadership Symposium, and more. Outside of work, you can find Natasha planning adventures in Dungeons and Dragons, taking care of her plants, and spending time with her partner and their two dogs.

Jordan Davis

Jordan Davis serves as the Leader Development Graduate Coordinator for Co-Curricular Programs and Retreats for the Office of Student Life and Leadership in the Carolina Union. In this role, she works with Natasha Young to help facilitate programmatic and strategic efforts around co-curricular leadership initiatives that foster learning and development outside of the classroom, such as the annual SPARK Leadership Retreat, Carolina United, the ACC Leadership Symposium, and more. Jordan is currently a Masters of Art in Media and Communication student. Prior to attending UNC, she studied at Bridgewater College and graduated with a BS in Communication and Digital Media in 2022. She is very excited to not only collaborate with student organizations but to help implement and coordinate identity and social justice-based leadership programming.

Tyler Rohrig

Tyler Rohrig was born in Killeen, TX, however, was raised in many different parts of the US due to both his parents serving in the Army. He serves as the Student Organizations Graduate Coordinator for the Office of Student life and Leadership. In this role, he will work with Lee Roberts to advise the 800+ Student Organizations on the UNC-CH campus. He is currently a Master of Public Health Student with a concentration in Health Equity, Human Rights, and Social Justice. Prior to coming to UNC, he studied at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA and graduate with a BS in Public Health Education in 2022. Tyler is very excited to work with the diverse population of student organizations on campus and develop his advisement skills during his time in this role.

Lily Cross

Lily is serving as the Student Activities Graduate Coordinator for the Office of Student Life and Leadership. She recently received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Design from Michigan State University with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Over the years, Lily, a Miami native has pursued passions for culture, community, and culinary through visual storytelling. She is currently a first-year graduate student at Hussman studying Interactive Design Journalism. Within SLL, Lily will advise and support student leaders with executing campus-wide activities. Lily looks forward to being a resource and dedicating her time to implementing fun and inclusive ideas. Out of the office, she enjoys creating digital content and building new connections with others.

Raven Walters serves our Student Activities Graduate Coordinator. She is originally from Charleston, South Carolina. She attended the University of South Carolina to obtain her B.S. in biology and is enrolled at Gillings for her MPH in Health Equity, Social Justice, and Human Rights. In her role as Student Activities Graduate Coordinator, Raven will work with Sarah Brom and CUAB to host fun and exciting events for students on campus. Raven is excited to work with students to ensure that they have an amazing time in their undergrad experiences!

Makenna Thuringer

Makenna Thuringer serves as the communications & marketing graduate coordinator for the Student Life and Leadership office. She is from the pacific northwest from a place in Washington State called, Snohomish. She received her Bachelor of Science in public health with a specialization in population health and is currently a 1st year graduate student at UNC pursing her Master of public health degree in Leadership in practice from the Gilling’s school of global public health. Within this role Makenna will oversee and advise Marketing and communications for various programs and hopes to help empower the undergraduate students to be great leaders.
