Elizabeth Tilahun Alene, originally from Saint Paul, Minnesota is a freshman Morehead Cain Scholar and Honors student planning to study Global Studies and Public Health with a minor in Chinese studies. Elizabeth plans to pursue a career in the intersection of policy, medical humanities, and international development. Elizabeth was previously in a 12-year Chinese Immersion program, and continues to pursue her passions in language at Carolina by co-leading the Chinese Conversation Club, and partaking in virtual Chinese-English language exchange programs with University students in China. Elizabeth is also a part of the Ethiopian-Eritrean Students Association. Outside of these endeavors, she is a student researcher in public health and health humanities labs, a Senior Fellow at the Joyce Ivy Foundation, and involved in several college access programs as a scholar, including Leadership Enterprise for a Diverse America. She is a member of the 2028 North Carolina Fellows Program class.
