Simran Gandhi

Simran Gandhi is a UNC student from Boston, Massachusetts majoring in Biology and English. In 2017, she founded a non-profit alongside her twin sister called Give Back With a Snack (GBWAS). This program places collection bins in school cafeterias wherein students can donate unwanted snacks to community members in need. So far, student participants have donated over 20,000 snacks while learning about sustainability and community engagement. Simran also works as an intern a public health lab at Duke Cancer Institute, investigating abnormally high rates of breast cancer in women of West African descent. In her free time, Simran enjoys singing, comedy, and spending time with her twin sister, Sia, who is also a member of the 2028 North Carolina Fellows Program class.
