Ella Laws is originally from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, but spent her junior and senior years of high school studying at the North Carolina School of Science and Math. A Sociology major with a love for STEM, Ella is passionate about people, and the tools we all use for self expression. In 2023, Ella worked on a project at the UNC School of Medicine exploring the effects of hearing loss on linguistic practice. A self-defined football fanatic, Ella also published research on the use of college football as a form of self expression in the South, and the way it shapes community. At UNC, Ella seeks out ways to understand and engage with her Chapel Hill community everday. A memeber of the Daily Tar Heel and a student volunteer deeply invested in promiting child literacy, Ella is a proud member of the 2028 North Carolina Fellows Program class.
