The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Amy Gao

Amy is an Economics Major and Education Minor from Denver, Colorado. At Carolina, she is an educator tracing the steps of Dr. Cindy Moss and Sir Ken Robinson, and operates at the liminal space between academia, development policy, and curricula design in K-12 education. Hosting English tutoring for Vietnamese students at UNICEF and developed field trips for Cherry Creek School District elementary schools was a joy. As she builds a Learning Lab full of books and games in the Bukedea District of Uganda, her question now is: how do we center holistic learning and play in education systems so that creativity and play have equal stature as literacy? Previously, she was energized by synchronized swimming and served on the USA Artistic Swimming Athlete Executive Council, but now she’s big into climbing and skiing. And of course, no photos, no memories. Let her know (@amygaosphotos on Instagram) if you need shots!
