Treat Yo Self, Treat Others

As the fall semester came to a close, the Carolina Union invited students to celebrate one last Treat Yo Self in 2025 on Tuesday, December 2nd, from 11:30-2:30 pm in the West Lounge of the Carolina Union. Designed with wellness and community in mind, the event saw almost 200 students attend. Attendees enjoyed a hot beverage station featuring an array of hot cocoa options with syrups, marshmallows, and more. CarolinasDentist was a featured community guest, tabling to provide important information on the services they can provide to students.

But this Treat Yo Self was also about treating others. Students had the chance to write heartfelt messages and create care packages for patients at UNC Hospitals’ Adult Oncology Outpatient Infusion Center. These messages written by Tar Heels are a way to support members of our extended Carolina family and bring some warmth and hope to those facing a difficult journey.

The event struck a chord with many, particularly because of the outreach to UNC Hospitals. Students shared that the event resonated with them and connected it to events going on in their personal lives, often with loved ones going through their own health battles.

The Carolina Union is proud to create spaces that promote student well-being, but also promote connection, empathy, and service. This successful Treat Yo Self event symbolized what it means to be a part of the Carolina community: prioritizing personal well-being while finding meaningful ways to care for others through service and connection.
