Kiernan Almand

Kiernan Almand is a senior majoring in Computer Science and Communications with a minor in Data Science. Kiernan hopes to use her degrees to bridge the knowledge gap between programmers and the general population in order to foster more inclusive and efficient digital communication. On campus, Kiernan is President of the Omega Phi Alpha National Service Sorority Chapter which she helped co-found in March 2022. Additionally, Kiernan is co-head of the Girls Who Code chapter at UNC and a member of App Team Carolina’s Apprenticeship team. Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, Kiernan’s proximity to the nation’s capital and to the center of US politics inspired her to improve others’ lives through civic engagement and service. Kiernan’s core values are creating community and giving back through service, two things that motivate her while she navigates UNC.
