Amy Onyinye Okonkwo

Amy Onyinye Okonkwo is an Igbo Nigerian from Gastonia, NC, majoring in Environmental Health Sciences and Psychology. Amy Onyinye spends a lot of her time doing climate justice work related to the intersections to healthcare access and equity. Connected to this passion, Amy conducted an independent research project genetically engineering an accessible biological substrate for microbial fuel cells. Here at UNC, Amy spends her time with the Sunrise Movement as the President and Organizing Coordinator of the UNC hub and Alpha Epsilon Delta, the pre-health fraternity. She is an undergraduate researcher in the Magna Lab at the Environmental Sciences Department and a Morehead-Cain School, Accelerator Research, and a member of the Honors program at UNC.
