Art Collection
Whether you are a student, faculty or staff, or a visitor to our campus, we invite you to wander through our building and take in all the art that is on display. We like to think we offer one of the best collections in Chapel Hill.
Throughout the Carolina Union, you will find works by UNC alumni and North Carolina artists displayed as part of the Henry-Copeland Permanent Art Collection. From photography to folk art, the pieces reflect the diversity and richness of our campus and state communities. To assist in building the Henry-Copeland collection, contact the Union Administrative Office.
Just off the main lobby and next to our welcome desk is the Union’s Gallery. Presented by the Carolina Union Activities Board and updated monthly, art in the Gallery features work created by UNC students. The pieces displayed feel very current and offer a look at what is on the minds of UNC students.
Finally, we are home to one of the gems of the UNC campus. The Gift is a walkway and art mosaic that runs between our buildings. Created by noted American Indian artist Senora Lynch of the Haliwa-Saponi Indian Tribe, North Carolina, The Gift incorporates imagery from Native American storytelling and the natural world.
